Sex on Fire vs. Enjoy the Silence

Deciding what bands to see at a large music festival is both fun and frustrating. It is even further complicated by mixing in multiple opinions of music fans and a bottle of Crown. This year's Lollapalooza is no exception. Perry Ferrel and folks are putting some difficult choices on the board: Heartless Bastards or Bon Iver, Crystal Castles or Fleet Foxes, Gang Gang Dance or Dan Deacon, Los Campisenos or a DJ set from Animal Collective, Beastie Boys or Tool. But, one scheduling conflict that is easy to decide is which headliner to attend on Friday: Kings of Leon or Depeche Mode. At least I thought it would be an easy decision, mix in that bottle of crown and the opinions of other music fans and viola'. I would argue the Depeche Mode is one of the most influential bands from the 80's and with classics like 'Enjoy the Silence' and 'People are People', how could anyone possibly choose to watch anything else. Kings of Leon? Really? Here is an appropriate comparison: Ferguson Jenkins or Mark Buerhle.

Pull out that purple bag, queench your thirst and pay your respects to living legends....O, and check out Dan Deacon while you're at it!
