All Saints Day

Here's another track from All Saints Day, the collaboration between Katy of Vivian Girls and Gregg of Cat Power. As previously reported, the band makes their live debut on the West Coast this weekend, and will release their first 7" (pictured) on Art Fag in the very near future

Looks like Cinelli will be releasing a re-up of their infamous Alter Stem! The new Alter will fit 1 1/8th steer tubes (don't worry it will come with a shim) and will be made to work with oversized handlebars. Hopefully Cinelli will also have a 26.0 option for this stem but no word yet. A lot of things in the works for Cinelli but re-releasing the Alter is definitely the highlight for me! Now just keep your fingers crossed for the 26.0 option...maybe 25.4 if we're lucky!

San Francisco

In a word: Dreamy. If there is a city that makes me miss Josie more than San Francisco I haven't been there...yet. Riding these hills on a fixed gear would have been marvelous. However, leaving Josie at home opened the possibility of renting a tandem and traveling these hills with friends. And my ole my, Josie would be jealous if she only knew.

Bike Etiquette

After 6 years of cycling in Eagle County I have finally figured out the bike etiquette. While riding cruisers or commuters bikes (Townies) to breakfast, the bank or anywhere else you are allowed to wave and acknowledge the fellow commuter and they will acknowledge you as well with a smile, a wave of the hand or even the rare “Hello.” Dog walkers and joggers will also follow this etiquette to commuting cyclists. While on a Townie, you obey traffic laws and are aware of traffic. I was very familiar with this etiquette in other cycling communities in the Midwest, but what I have learned over the last 6 years is this: Once you put on the lycra team kit you can be a complete imbecile. I had no idea! O the joy of witlessly spinning through roundabouts, red lights and stop signs. And, by not saying hello or smiling at other cyclists, I save soooo much energy and I can maintain my focus on cadence — whatever that is. Occasionally, I will peek at what bike is being riden or what kit is being worn to see if the rider is worthy of either; maybe a glare will ensue. O the joy of riding absurdly. Had I known 6 years ago this was acceptable etiquette, maybe I too could have one of those really ludicrous friends to ride with.

Training for the 1st annual Native Slo Ride at the 2010 Teva Games began over the weekend, all I needed was a bike, a few beers and a feisty bulldog. I tried to keep these posts to music and bikes but I failed. The snow began Thursday evening and did not let up until Saturday morning at which point I had to pull the skis out of the summer closet and make some late season turns.

Eric and I started our tour from Vail Village at 9:30a reaching our Prima Cornice destination at noon (Eric probably could have made a run or two by the time I completed the trek). It was a glorious day and after an avie scare we found ourselves in 3' feet of powder. First tracks at noon! I really feel like I put one on Vail Resorts: Free Parking, no lift lines, and skiing terrain that would have been closed had the resort been open
